Bristol Missing Persons

The eldest son of a client of the Bristol Private Detectives left the home when he was 18 years old because he didn't get along with his father. The two had fought at times violently since the boy entered adolescence. One day shortly after his 18th birthday, the son disappeared leaving only a bitter note saying that he did not ever intend to return. His friends reported to the family they had learned that he had gone to Spain and then Italy, but only through postcards he sent without any addresses on them. The father who was exhausted from the constant conflict just assumed his son was out of their lives forever. The mother was heartbroken, but she felt helpless to do anything. His younger brother and sister missed their brother, but, over the decade he was gone, he became little more than a faded memory to them. While the family rarely mentioned the missing brother, the father had many deep regrets about how their relationship ended. Then a friend of the family said they ran into the son while they were on holiday at the seashore. He was back in the UK and was part-owner of a tourist shop near the beach. He also had married and had a daughter. The friend had no idea where the shop was, but said the young man looked healthy. Our client decided that with his own failing health, it was time to reach out to his son and his granddaughter. He hired our private detectives to see if we could find his son based on the information he had.

Missing Persons in Bristol

Our private investigators began a records search to see if the son's name emerged. The name was a common name, and there were a great many references to that name in the public records. One name, however, was listed for a business license application for a shop in a resort town near the ocean. The same individual's name was on a birth certificate for a baby girl born about two years before our search. While the records indicated that we had found the son, our private detectives went to the address they had and verified his identity from pictures. They returned to the father with the son's address. The family took a trip to the resort town where they reunited with the man. He introduced them to the woman he met in Italy and with whom he fell in love and married. He also introduced them to their granddaughter and niece. The son had not contacted his family because he was not sure they would want to see him. It pleased him to find that this was not the case. He had sorely missed them over the years.

Follow-up by our private investigators found all in the family had matured some. The father and the son let the past remain there and got to know each other again. His birth family welcomed his new little family into the home for holidays and other family occasions. Before long it was as though the son had never left and the family had been restored. The father has often given much of the credit for succeeding in this to the detectives at Bristol Private Detectives.
